Medicare Reimbursement Systems for Inpatient Rehabilitation and Psychiatric Providers

Register Now

This course will illustrate how Medicare reimbursement rates are determined for inpatient psychiatric and inpatient rehabilitation hospitals and units.

Inpatient rehabilitation and psychiatric hospitals and exempt units are reimbursed by the Medicare program under distinct prospective payment systems, due to the unique health needs of the patients. The reimbursement system also applies to acute care hospital inpatient rehabilitation and psychiatric patient care services that have obtained exempt unit status with the Medicare program. Understanding how these services are reimbursed will assist with financial planning and expansion into rehabilitation and behavioral health service lines.
