QHR is pleased to announce the first offering of the QHR Lean Healthcare Green Belt Certification, a four-day course serving a twofold purpose:  First, it is a critical part of training for your internal Lean experts; and second, it will serve to significantly broaden the depth and experience level of using Lean methodologies and tools within your organization. 

Attendees will gain an appreciation and understanding regarding the principles and purpose of incorporating Lean into their organization. This is an important first step in gaining buy-in, as well as gaining team facilitation and consensus building skills that can be used throughout a person's career at any level in any organization.  The course will provide an overview of Lean principles including but not limited to:

  • History of Lean
  • Lean principles and the 8 types of wastes
  • A3 thinking and problem solving process
  • Consensus building strategies
  • SIPOC (Suppliers, Inputs, Process, Outputs, Customer) Mapping
  • Current State Process Mapping
  • Root Cause Analysis Training
  • Standard Work
  • 5S (Sort, Straighten, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) and visual management
  • Takt time, cell design and mistake proofing
  • Ideal State Mapping
  • Future State Mapping
  • Building effective action plans
  • Facilitation tips for leading any team

A certified Lean green belt is an important asset to any organization trying to implement Lean process improvement methodologies.  They are competent in leading teams through various process improvement (often called kaizen) events, and are typically an invaluable asset to senior management by promoting, training and executing much of the organization’s Lean process improvement program.  Join us to start on your path to a Lean healthcare green belt certification in October!

Certification

Classroom:

Participants who attend at least 85% of the program, complete a course evaluation, will earn up to 24.0 hours of education credit. Certificates will be posted on the program website within one week of program completion. 

The QHR Lean Healthcare Green Belt Certification will be awarded to those who:

  1. Complete the QHR Lean Healthcare Lean Green Belt Certification Course.
    1. Attend at least 85% of the classroom program
    2. Complete a course evaluation
  2. Complete one Lean project at their hospital with an A3 and Action Plan within six months of classroom training (QHR mentor will review and provide feedback).
  3. Prepare and teach a 1-hour awareness class, preferably at candidates’ hospital within six months of classroom training (QHR mentor will review slides for feedback and receive a copy of the training’s attendance).
