David Elliot, from Taos, NM possesses a wide array of community organizing, emergency management, and emergency response experiences. David is passionate about emergency management through all phases of the disaster cycle — from a Whole Community perspective and with a focus on Resiliency. David served as a volunteer firefighter, volunteer fire Chief, and as Emergency Management Coordinator (Deputy Emergency Manger) for Taos County and Santa Fe County, NM. David also worked as the (volunteer) New Mexico State Administrator for Team Rubicon USA, an international veteran and first responder-led disaster response organization. David is an Adjunct Instructor for the New Mexico Department of Homeland Security, a Professional Lecturer for the NM Department of Public Safety, and a contract emergency management instructor for numerous organizations and jurisdictions throughout the US. For the last 5 years, David has worked as the Hospital Emergency Response Coordinator for Holy Cross Medical Center in Taos, NM. During the initial phases of COVID-19 response, David also served, through numerous operational periods, as the Deputy Director of the NM State Emergency Operations Center. During David’s spare time, he works with New Mexico Search and Rescue and enjoys numerous outdoor activities.
