Jonathan advises health care clients on information technology, privacy, and data security matters. He negotiates all manner of health information technology contracts, such as data hosting, data sharing, data use, IT service, software license, information security, business associate, and health information exchange participation agreements. He collaborates with his clients to develop and implement appropriate data privacy and security policies, procedures, practices, and training for compliance with state and federal laws and regulations. Additionally, Jonathan works with his clients to prepare for and respond to data breaches. When clients experience data breaches or are the subject of HIPAA complaints, he counsels them through the inevitable government investigations that follow, including those led by the HHS, Office for Civil Rights. Jonathan’s experience as a former prosecutor for the State of Georgia and civil trial lawyer serves him well during contract negotiations and government investigations. When he is not practicing law or coaching his daughters’ soccer and basketball teams, he serves his community as a part time Municipal Court Judge for the metropolitan City of Brookhaven. He earned his law degree from Emory University in 1999 and his undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia in 1996. He has received the highest peer review rating from Martindale Hubbell and since 2015 has been recognized as a Georgia Super Lawyer (limited to the top 5% of attorneys in Georgia) in the field of health care law.
